‘In Gloucester, UK, a small group of devoted D.I.Y Punk and Hardcore music fans create their own shows in a ‘secret’ location in an industrial estate. This project attempts to capture the raw energy of these shows, to tell the story of the ‘secret show’ community. For myself as well as other people involved in the community these shows offer an outlet to escape day to day life and be accepted by people with the same interests.
As a fan of alternative and heavy music, I have struggled with acceptance throughout life but when I found this culture, I finally felt accepted and could be my normal self.
I would like to use this project to thank the people in this scene for welcoming me in and creating this outlet not just for me, but for everyone to enjoy themselves and find happiness and acceptance.’
